Tasma House

Tasma House Music and Arts Retreat, a guest house since the 1930s, comprises a beautiful Nineteenth Century homestead and half a dozen ancillary buildings, all nestled in one-and-half acres of gorgeous landscaped gardens.

The property sits on a quiet, semi-rural road, overlooking the Wombat State Forest, yet is just a few minutes walk from the bustling hub of Daylesford in Victoria’s central highlands.

Ideal for casual visits, day-long workshops or longer-term residential stays, Tasma House is home to dedicated musicians and visual artists. Capable of accommodating up to 20 overnight guests, and catering to many more, the property features several indoor and outdoor stage areas, as well as secluded and shaded garden areas.

The accommodation ranges from fully self-contained cottages to budget cabins, all set within verdant grounds full of secret courtyards, tree-covered colonnades, lawns and ponds. Indeed, the grounds, designed by landscaper Mel Ogden, have been recognised as outstanding by Australia’s Open Garden Scheme.

Tasma House is perfect for individuals, couples and groups who wish to spend time in an atmosphere where creative arts activity is not only encouraged, but welcomed. Of course, staying and simply enjoying the surrounds is always an option, but Tasma House has been designed to subtly evoke ideas and stimulate creativity.

The staff at Tasma House can tailor guest packages as needs arise. If isolation is desired in order to brainstorm a new project, for instance, we can arrange everything from full catering to exclusive occupation. Perhaps you need accompaniment for rehearsals, white-boards, digital recording equipment, musicians to jam with, extra instruments, even an audience for an in-house concert. It’s all possible at Tasma House Music and Arts Retreat.

Need internet access during your stay? No problem. There’s WiFi accesses in the buildings and the gardens.

And here’s the best thing: at Tasma House we recognise that a life in the arts can be a hard road to walk. We tailor the tariffs to artist budgets, and offer a range of catering packages.

Tasma House Music and Arts Retreat even makes a creative fund-raising mechanism! It’s perfectly possible for group organisers to use the facilities at our special low rates and then on-sell to members with the group reaping the margin!
